Description:

This concertato setting of the Emmaus story is light in its texture but moving in its impact. The melody of the opening verse captures the heaviness of the travelers’ grief. An a cappella verse takes on an airiness reflecting the wonder of the discovery. The setting builds toward a joyful ending, with a statement of our mission as a living Church. Enjoy the pedal line’s depiction of the trudging gait in the brief interludes.
