Frank Battisti, Donald Hunsberger, and H. Robert Reynolds rehearse and perform with the WASBE International Youth Wind Orchestra
Holst - Suites No. 1 in E-flat and No. 2 in F Hindemith - Symphony in B-flat Grainger - Lincolnshire Posy
Few composers are as venerated for their contribution to the field of wind literature as Percy Grainger, Paul Hindemith, and Gustav Holst. Their compositions "Lincolnshire Posy," "Symphony in B-flat," and the "Suites in E-flat and F," comprise the bedrock upon which the modern wind ensemble is based.
Few conductors achieve a status that can be termed "iconic." Frank Battisti, Donald Hunsberger, and H. Robert Reynolds have long occupied this territory at the forefront of the profession.
This 3-DVD set, filmed during the 14th Biennial Conference of the World Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles (WASBE), held at the Cincinnati College Conservatory in July 2009, document the encounter between these three leading conductors and the most revered of historic wind repertoire.
All told, this DVD set features more than six hours of rehearsal, interview, and performance footage that will captivate professional and amateur musicians alike, and afford a glimpse into the preparatory process of these three legendary conductors.
