The work presents significant technical demands. A wide variety of keys are explored in the various movements. The woodwinds are presented with some challenging technical passages throughout the work, including many exposed parts. The brass parts require strong players.

In addition to numerous solo lines in the brass, the 1st trumpet part is particularly demanding. The percussion demands are substantial. A full battery, as well as an array of mallet instruments and auxiliary percussion, is required. The percussion parts present a technical challenge.
