Suite Divertimento was commissioned by the Lewisville High School Symphonic Band by Michael T. Brown, assistant director of bands at the school.

The composition premiered in the Meyerson Symphony Center in Dallas, February 7, 1996. It is comprised of three movements: “Prologue,” “Pastorale,” and “Parade.” The main themes for the movements are derived from a four-note motive (B-flat – C – F – G), and reflect the character of the movement’s title.
