Jacques Berthier is perhaps best known as the composer of much of the music of the Taizé Community. He was also a prolific composer of instrumental and keyboard music, made evident with these organ variations of well known chorale melodies. These are of moderate difficulty and can be used as preludes, intonations, postludes or even interludes between stanzas. The other tunes (also cast in Berthier’s unmistakable French style) are: IN DULCI JUBILO; MIT FREUDEN ZART; VALET WILL ICH DIR GEBEN (ST. THEODULPH); WACHET AUF; and WER NUR DEN LIEBEN GOTT.
