Warren Haston demonstrates effective and appropriate use of modeling in rehearsals with elementary, middle school, and high school bands. Research shows that modeling can be an extremely efficient way to introduce and review performance concepts. The modeling techniques presented here will enhance any method book or teaching resource and lead to music literacy.

On this DVD, Dr. Haston discusses modeling techniques—based on balanced relationships between ears, eyes, and fingers—and then effectively puts the techniques into practice in front of three public school bands: elementary, middle school, and high school. This DVD includes PDF files with full lesson plans for each rehearsal segment.

Warren Haston is Assistant Professor of Music Education at The Hartt School, University of Hartford. He has taught all levels of public school band in Texas and Fairfax, Virginia.
