We set out several times to describe this work, deleted the copy, and then started over. It's a first of its kind. It's a mass for assembly, cantor, SATB choir, piano or organ (both included in score) and a myriad of instrumental possibilities (see below). It's meaty. That is to say, it is of above-average difficulty, with a somewhat intricate weaving of multiple layers of voices and accompanying instruments, and yet it is all so logical and appealing that it makes the work of learning it richly rewarding.
The Mass of the Creator Spirit weaves Latin, English, and Greek (Kyrie) throughout its movements. It is performable with cantor, assembly, and piano or organ, making it quite suitable for typical Sundays, or it can be performed with extended forces making the festivals truly festive. Study the full score to fully appreciate this work and make decisions regarding instrumentation.The work includes an incredible setting of the Credo, based on the Latin chant Credo III, which is published separately. If ever you were to sing a Credo, this is the one!
