Festal Scenes is comprised of four songs from the Aomori Prefecture in Japan.

“Jongara-Jamisen” is the first tune used, which explores the interval of a fourth and serves as an introductory fanfare.

“Hohai-bushi” is introduced in a soft, andante, lyrical setting.

A lento section follows with a forte statement of “Tsugaru-aiya-bushi.”

“Nebuta-festival” ends the piece followed by a declara- tive, rousing coda.
