Chorale Prelude: Be Thou My Vision was written as a gift to Thomas O’Neal (Director of Bands at Arkansas State University) and Pat Ellison (Director of the Springdale (Arkansas) High School Symphonic Band) for their friendship and wonderful musicianship.

The work is based on the hymn tune “Slane,” better known to many as “Be Thou My Vision.” The work exhibits the composer’s love for hymn tunes.
