According to the composer, this quiet piece with its broad tones was originally written for brass band at the request of the chairman of Van der Roost’s own band, Brass Band Midden Brabant (Belgium). The inspiration for the work was a visit to the magnificent cathedral of the English city of Canterbury where “so many fine compositions sounded throughout the centuries.”

Composed in 1993, this single-movement chorale is approximately five and a half minutes in duration.
