Why we ask for an email address and how it complies with the Child Online Privacy Protection Act

As a persistant identifier, giamusic.com website requests the email address of students of all ages to access digital media(videos, ebooks, audio files, etc.). Email addresses, in combination with the access codes, are exclusively used to match the user to access digital media. In compliance with COPPA (Child Online Privacy Protection Act 16 CFR 312.5(c)(7)) we do the following to ensure the child's protection. All email addresses used in conjunction with an access code are encrypted on our server. We do not have any way to view the email address after the access code form is submitted. The encrypted email address does not match or relate to any other personally identifiable information data regarding the user. If we could decrypt the email address, which we cannot, we would not ever share, sell, rent, or transfer children's email addresses to any third party. Entering the email address to access digital media does not create an online account. The hash encrypted email address will be removed upon request of the user, or the user's guardian.

Other than collecting email address to access digital media, as described above, we do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and you learn that your Children have provided us with Personal Information, please contact us. If we become aware that we have collected Personal Information from a child under age 13 without verification of parental consent, we take steps to remove that information from our servers.
