Turner, Patsy Simms

Patsy Simms Turner was first published in 1981 and has written over 300 choral compositions, musicals and arrangements for the educational and church markets with several leading publishing companies such as Alfred, Shawnee, Warner Bros, Hal Leonard, Bri Lee and John Rich Music Press. She began writing and arranging out of necessity due to the lack of choral octavos for the junior high/middle school voice during the first decade of her teaching career. Patsy was inspired and encouraged by Joyce Eilers, her mentor who was the creator of the 3 part mixed concept. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from Knoxville College studying under the late Nathan Carter, a Master of Education from the University of Louisville and a Ph.D. in Music Education from Columbia Pacific University.
