Engelhardt, Michael

Michael creates choral, pop, and electronic music…sometimes simultaneously. He is the founding director of VOCASPHERE, a choral ensemble based in Decatur, Illinois, which gives voice to his newest creations. His music is published by Walton Music and is available through most major music retailers. He has several self-published titles as well.

Michael’s choral music chops come mostly from Millikin University, where he got his undergrad degree and later served on the music faculty with his friend and colleague, Brad Holmes. He has a Masters in Choral Conducting.

His pop and electronic music credits include a stint as Vocal Director and Essence Creator for the Chicago-area church Willow Creek. There, he honed his skills in songwriting, audio production, and media integration. He also collaborated with many top artists in the Contemporary Christian pop world.

Michael currently serves as the Worship Arts Director of First Christian Church (FCC) in Decatur, Illinois. VOCASPHERE is a part of the arts department of FCC, which includes several bands and vocal ensembles. His music has been performed and recorded recently by such groups as Cantus and Chapter 6, and has been featured on numerous ACDA and All-State programs by college and high school choirs. Much of his music is written on commission for colleges, high schools, churches, or professional ensembles.
