Gabriela Montoya-Stier is an elementary music teacher at Fisher Elementary with the Northside Independent School District in San Antonio, Texas. She received her Bachelor’s in Music Education from the University of New Mexico and her Master’s in Music Education from Indiana University, Bloomington, where she completed Kodály levels I, II, and III with Dr. Jean Sinor and Dr. Alan Strong. She completed her Orff certification levels I, II, and III from Trinity University with Chris Judah-Lauder, Julie Scott, Susan Ramsey, and Robert De Frece. Currently, she is also on the faculty for the Texas State and Hays CISD Kodály certification program.
Gabriela was born and raised on the Texas border with Mexico. As a very young child, she lived in Mexico City for six years. Some of her earliest memories from Mexico City are from her Aunt teaching her and her cousins singing games.
