Workshops

Coping with Anxiety, Depression, and the Effects of Social Media (with Janèt Sullivan Whitaker) - Sacred Music

This workshop is primarily intended to help professional music ministers and to those who serve in other areas of lay ecclesial ministry, including catechists, youth ministers, and professional parish administration (staff). The general areas of concern are stress, relationships, social media, anxiety, depression and renewal. These topics will form segments within the presentation. Each segment will incorporate one or more of the following: prayer, scripture, storytelling, singing, and ritual. (Example: One ritual moment could provide each participant a way to voice, with care and compassionate moderation, the part of their story that represents the greatest source of discouragement in their ministry.) Group interaction can be a time for participants to share creative solutions, collaborate on goal-setting, build support networks, and prioritize self-care in the healthy balance between life and ministry.
