Psalms of David and Songs of Mary
John Bell with Mhairi Lawson and The Cathedral Singers
This third and newest collaboration with John L. Bell and The Cathedral Singers continues the tradition of top-notch choral recordings, this time featuring the remarkably pure and distinctive voice of Mhairi Lawson, a member of the Wild Goose Worship Group.
Seven Songs of Mary offer a contemporary perspective on seven stations in the life of Mary: the Annunciation, the Nativity, the Presentation, the Rejection, the Cross, the Resurrection, and the Assumption.
Each movement begins with a recitative by the Angel Gabriel, a shepherd, Simeon, or a disciple, and concludes with a choral song. Scored for organ, strings, flute, trumpet, and SATB voices, this is wonderful concert material, well within the grasp of parish choirs. And John Bell's psalm compositions are the perfect compliment to the songs of Mary. Truly a recording and music collection to cherish.
