Many of the ideas Alice Parker discusses in Sharing the Song are brought to life through direct observation of her work, and the following videos demonstrate the elements of Alice’s approach to song leading. All are from the SING Alice Parker led at Park Avenue Christian Church in New York City on January 19, 2010, with the exception of “Buffalo Gals,” which was recorded at the Missouri Choral Directors Association conference in 2016.
Different Song Styles
The four videos below showcase Alice’s approach to different types of songs.

The SING at Park Avenue Christian Church
As Alice discusses in the book, the order of songs for a SING should be carefully considered ahead of time to provide optimal contrast and interest for participants. As such, the twelve songs below are presented in the order they were performed during the SING at Park Avenue Chrisitan Church.
- Be Joyful in God
- Still I Search for My God
- Love Divine, All Love Excelling
- My Soul With Joy Attend
- My Heart and Flesh Cry Out for Thee
- Search Me, O Lord
- Praise Ye the Lord
- Easter Eggs
- O For a Shout of Sacred Joy
- Times Without Number
- Death Shall Not Destroy My Comfort
- I Want to Live So God Can Use Me
