The Choral Warm-Up: Modal Exercises
Editor : James Jordan
2007 GIA Publications, Inc.
In response to the success of The Choral Warm-Up: Core Vocal Exercises, teachers and conductors have been requesting more exercises to expand the modal breadth of the series.
The Choral Warm-Up: Modal Exercises book and accompaniment CD, written and recorded by Roger Ames, a leading choral composer, contains 22 exercises designed to prepare the choir to be introduced to a mode.
James Jordan also writes a comprehensive introduction on the efficient use of these modal warm-up exercises.
Choir directors will find these exercises to be a key component in their quest to improve the musicianship and vocalism of their singers.
Roger Ames is music director of the Composer Librettist Studio at New Dramatists (New York City); director of Composition, Theory, and Vocal Music at Great Neck North High School (New York); and music director of Pantomonium, Inc, also in New York City.
James Jordan, conductor of the Westminster Williamson Voices and Schola Cantorum, as well as the Westminster Chapel Choir for more than a decade, at Westminster Choir College of Rider University, is recognized as one of the nation’s preeminent conductors, writers, and innovators in choral teaching.
