A Community Mass - Choral and Organ Edition

by Richard Proulx

Since its publication in 1971 and revision in 1977, A Community Mass has become a staple for many parishes. Due to its wide use and inclusion in various denominational hymnals, additional material and new instrumentations were periodically created by the composer, often as the request of colleagues. These "enrichments" have made A Community Mass adaptable to a variety of circumstances and forces—from cantor, assembly, and organ to performances by choir and assembly with small or large instrumental ensembles in addition to organ. Thus an "ordinary" setting is transformed into a "festive" setting in the appropriate liturgical context.

New material includes an optional festive organ accompaniment and SATB harmonization for the Sanctus, as well as settings of all four Memorial Acclamations and a second setting of the Agnus Dei. The companion full score and instrumental parts have been newly edited and engraved and include previously unpublished instrumental material.
