Music Fit for a Pope

GIA is honored to be a part of Pope Benedict XVI's historic visit to the United States.

Much of the music performed at both outdoor Masses is published by GIA. In Washington, DC, at Nationals Park, featured titles include “Go Up to the Altar of God” by James Chepponis, “O Spirit All-Embracing” and “Gloria” from Mass of the Angels edited by Richard Proulx, “Lord, Send Out Your Spirit” by C. Alexander Peloquin, “Easter Gospel Acclamation” by Brian Luckner, several acclamations from Mass of Creation by Marty Haugen, and “Love’s Redeeming Work Is Done” by David Ogden.

In New York, the pope will celebrate Mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral and in Yankee Stadium, where the repertoire also features several GIA-published titles. Significant selections include “I Am the Bread of Life” by Sr. Suzanne Toolan along with acclamations from the Schubert German Mass and “Concertato on O God, beyond All Praising,” arranged by Richard Proulx.
