Mechanical License
The parish choir is making a recording of its best songs, or a special video is being created for a parish anniversary. If GIA music is being used for these purposes, you must secure a mechanical license. The rate for this license is set by Congress. The cost is $.091-cents per song, per copy (15-cents per song, per copy for videos). So, for example, if you used one GIA song, and produced one thousand CDs, your cost would be $91.00.
