Come one, come all—everyone is invited! Directors, singers, and soloists from churches of any denomination, public and private schools, colleges, universities, and community choirs… Organists, pianists, other instrumentalists… Little choirs, big choirs, choirs of all shapes and sizes… All are welcome!
GIA is inviting you to attend a New Music Seminar featuring
titles from the African American Church Music Series. Consummate
conductor Dr. James Abbington, executive editor of the series
and Associate Professor of Music and Worship at Candler School
of Theology at Emory University in Atlanta, will direct these
seminars. He will lead participants in singing through a packet
of new music perfect for church, school, and community choirs
of all kinds. This is a great opportunity to involve your whole
choir in a unique and positive experience while
also broadening their repertoire.
CDs, hymnals, and other resources from the African American Church Music Series will be available for purchase in some locations. Check-in time begins 45 minutes prior to session start time.
GIA is hosting the choral music seminar of the year and we want everyone involved. Come and experience for yourself the music of GIA’s African American Church Music Series—a rich legacy that is now available to all churches! This is sure to be one of the largest choral events in your city.
Here’s the plan—for the low fee of $20.00 per person, each attendee will receive a packet of music containing 12 titles from the series in a variety of styles sure to satisfy any choir regardless of size or ability. The packet will also include a copy of our new hymnal, New Wine in Old Wineskins. Dr. James Abbington will lead the participants through the music. In this large group of singers, timid voices will sing out with confidence and non-readers will benefit from singing with more-experienced readers. Your music ministry will be energized by this memorable morning of music making! Learn repertoire for the entire year and take advantage of this opportunity to expand your music library with great new titles from GIA at an extremely affordable price. Don’t be left out! All music groups and/or individuals are welcome.
