Music for Young Children
Edwin E. Gordon
Children become acculturated to music in much the same way they do language. The more language they hear, the sooner they learn to speak and understand. To sustain their attention and to make the greatest impact, it is important that children hear appropriate music. This is the purpose of this set of four hour-long cassettes.
The selections are short-none more than three minutes-and there are great contrasts in dynamics, timbre, style, and rhythm. It is not necessary that a child always be paying attention to this music. Whether during playtime or resting time, the cassettes are best heard as background music. Enjoy the wonderful world of music with your child.
