Rare Beasts and Unique Adventures, Volume II

Richard Proulx, The Cathedral Singers

A second volume celebrating the rich talent of Richard Proulx, this collection again borrows its name from the first stanza of W. H. Auden's poem He Is the Way and features more of Richard's choral music written during the years 1968 through 1998. Volume 2 includes three psalm settings, five hymn concertatos on both new and old hymntunes, the "Festival Gloria" written for Chicago's Cardinal Bernardin, and "Follow Me," an anthem commissioned for the 1995 papal mass in New York's Central Park. The Cathedral Singers, conducted by the composer, bring vibrant life to this spectacular recording along with brass, timpani, strings, solo winds, and organ accompaniment.
