The triangle is an ancient musical instrument capable of producing many interesting sounds. The sound produced depends upon the size and weight of the triangle, the size and weight of the beater, the spot struck, and the type of stroke used.
Preliminary Procedure:
Suspend the triangle from a clamp or triangle clip with a thin piece of nylon line.
To Play the Triangle:
A.
B.
C.
Hold the instrument by its clip.
Note: Position the triangle at chest level to project the sound.
Grasp the triangle beater lightly near its end.
Strike the triangle opposite the open end about 1/3 of the way down from the top corner.
D.
For a different effect, strike the lower bar.
Note: A softer dynamic level is produced by playing at the tip of the beater; a louder dynamic level is produced by playing at the center of the beater.
E.
For rolls, move the beater rapidly back and forth in one of the closed corners.
