The Finger Cymbals*

Small metal cymbals have existed since antiquity, dating at least to the time of the Roman Empire. Finger cymbals are used often in African, Latin American, and Spanish music. Composers use their bright, penetrating sound as a colorful accent or contrast to the sound of triangles or other metallic percussion instruments.

To Play the Finger Cymbals:

Hold the finger cymbals by the straps.

Strike the edge of one cymbal gently against the edge of the other.

Note: Strike the cymbals together at different angles and at different points around the edges to determine the best sound.
