NEW! to the acclaimed Evoking Sound Choral Series!

James Jordan, Executive Editor

In response to the many requests for quality choral music for children’s choirs in the age range of 10 to 15 years old, GIA Publications’ Evoking Sound Choral Series proudly introduces its new Music for Young Voices Series. Initial publications feature arrangements by recognized composer, Neil Ginsberg, and a new authority on composing for the middle school voice, Peter Frost. These editions take into account the challenges of teaching and working with adolescent voices, especially the male changing voice.

Hallmarks of these editions include:

Ranges that encourage proper vocal technique in young singers   Creative accompaniment for keyboard, guitar, and bass guitar
Optional cambiata parts   Arrangements and original compositions for both SSA and SAB
Optional descant parts   Composer’s notes with teaching suggestions

Neil Ginsberg (b. 1969) is co-chair of the Performing Arts Department at Brooklyn Friends School, where he currently teaches music and drama.  His work has been commissioned by a variety of choirs and institutions of higher learning, including the Stillwater Boys Choir, the Westminster Chapel Choir, and Lehigh University. He is a visiting teaching artist with the International Schools Theater Association, the former director of youth music at the First Unitarian Church in Brooklyn, and is a sought after, award-winning conductor and pianist.

Neil received his bachelor’s degree from the Hartt School of Music in Connecticut, a Master of Arts from Brooklyn College, and a Graduate Certificate in Composition from the University of Southern California, where he received the BMI award for excellence in film composition.
