J.William Greene

In addition to church work, Dr. Greene served on the keyboard faculties of Ithaca College; Nazareth College of Rochester, New York; and Appalachian State University. He received his Doctor of Musical Arts in Organ and Literature from the Eastman School of Music along with the Eastman Performer’s Certificate, both under the tutelage of Russell Saunders. Further study in organ and harpsichord took place in the Netherlands with the legendary Gustav Leonhardt under the auspices of an ITT International Fellowship.
Dr. Greene is an active composer with more than one-hundred choral and organ compositions appearing in the catalogs of CanticaNOVA, GIA, Paraclete Press, St. James Music Press, Concordia Publishing House and Emerson Music/National Music Publishers. A member of the American Society of Composers, Arrangers, and Publishers, he is the recent recipient of an ASACP+ Award for his recent publications and performances. He also recently won the First Prize in the AGO (San Jose) and Campbell United Methodist Church Composition Contest for a work for Organ on an American Hymn Tune for “Variation Prelude on Dunlap’s Creek.”
