Iain Quinn

Iain Quinn enjoys a distinguished career as an organist, choral director and composer. He studied with Nicolas Kynaston, Thomas Murray, William Porter (improvisation) and John Weaver. At fourteen he was appointed Director of Music at St. Michael’s Theological College, Llandaff. He subsequently joined the faculty of the Blackheath Conservatory, London. He moved to the USA in 1994, to pursue studies at The Juilliard School, The Hartt School, University of Hartford (BM summa cum laude) and Yale University (MM), he has served parishes in New York City and Connecticut. From 2005-2010 he was Director of Cathedral Music and Organist at the Cathedral Church of St John, Albuquerque, NM. As a concert organist he has performed in Europe, North and South America, the Far East and Australia. His compositions have received premieres by the choirs of Gonville and Caius College and Trinity College, Cambridge, under Geoffrey Webber and Stephen Layton respectively and Westminster Cathedral under Martin Baker. He has delivered papers at universities across North American and for the Royal Musical Association. He has received an awards from The Prince’s Trust, ASCAP and most recently a Louise Dyer award from Musica Britannica. He holds the diploma, with distinction, of Fellow of the Royal Schools of Music and is a Fellow of the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust.


Iain Quinn is a Doctoral Fellow at Durham University pursuing a PhD in musicology. He is also Director of Music and College Tutor at the College of St. Hild and St. Bede.
