Leon Gregorian is professor of music, director of orchestras, and head of the Graduate Orchestral Conducting Program at the Michigan State University School of Music. He received a bachelor of music from the New England Conservatory (Boston) and a master of music from Michigan State University.
Gregorian is former artistic director and conductor of the Midland Symphony Orchestra (Michigan) and conductor of the New England Music Camp Orchestra in Maine. He served two summers as a Tanglewood Fellow and has had many guest conducting appearances throughout the United States, South America, Mexico, Europe, and the Far East. He is former music director and conductor of the Owensboro (Kentucky) Symphony Orchestra and the Plymouth (Michigan) Symphony. He has also been artist-in-residence at Brescia University, the University of Evansville, Kentucky Wesleyan College, and Western Kentucky University. Gregorian has made recordings for the Crystal and Koch labels. He is recipient of the Michigan State University 1999 Distinguished Faculty Award, the 1998 Apollo Award, and the 1988 Teacher-Scholar Award.
