Lynn G. Cooper
View Calendar for "Lynn G. Cooper"Dr. Lynn G. Cooper is Chair of the Music Department, Director of Bands, and Professor of Music at Asbury College in Wilmore, Kentucky. He conducts the Concert Band and teaches courses in conducting and instrumental music education.
Prior to his 1985 appointment at Asbury College he taught in the public schools of Michigan for nineteen years. The last fourteen of those years were spent developing an outstanding band program at Ypsilanti High School. He also founded and for seven years conducted the Ypsilanti Community Band, an excellent adult concert ensemble. While in Michigan he has served in various district and state offices of the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association.
Dr. Cooper is an active adjudicator, clinician, guest conductor, and author. As the Kentucky State Chair for the Society of Music Teacher Education, and a past State Chair of the College Band Directors National Association, he has served on the Board of Directors of Kentucky Music Educators Association (KMEA) from 1991 to 1997, and 1999 to the present. He currently serves as President-Elect of the KMEA.
