Her scholarly interests include instrumental music education, preservice music teacher education, qualitative research, and the mentoring and induction of beginning music teachers. Conway has published more than forty articles on these topics in music education journals, including Journal of Research in Music Education and Bulletin of the Council for Research in Music Education. She has presented at national and international conferences, including MENC, the Midwest Clinic, AERA, and ISME. Conway is currently on the editorial boards of UPDATE: Applications of Research in Music Education and the Bulletin of the Council for Research in Music Education. She is program chair of the Research on Induction Special Interest Group of the American Educational Research Association. Her book Great Beginnings for Music Teachers: A Guide to Mentoring and Induction was released by MENC in 2003.
