Joseph Alsobrook has been an active music educator in Oklahoma since
1988. He currently teaches band for the Union Public School District
in Tulsa where he works with more than five hundred students per
day.
Committed to inspiring musical excellence, his students consistently
receive public acclaim and professional recognition. Most recently,
he conducted the Union High School Wind Symphony in a special honors
concert for the Oklahoma Music Educators Association annual convention.
The Union Band has also earned top honors at the Fiesta Bowl National
Pageant of Bands, the Citrus Bowl Music Festival, the Tournament
of Roses Parade, and multiple regional and national events sponsored
by Bands of America.
Mr. Alsobrook is a four time recipient of the Outstanding Music
Director's Award presented by the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities
Association. He is also a member of Who's Who Among America's Teachers
and is currently a candidate for certification by the National Board
for Professional Teaching Standards.
In addition to his work at Union, Mr. Alsobrook works with several
schools each year as a designer, consultant, and clinician. He has
been an adjudicator in Oklahoma, Missouri, Arizona, and Louisiana,
and performed on two extensive concert tours throughout Europe.
During the summer months, he remains active as a musician, teacher,
and conductor through his work with the TulsaFest summer arts program,
the Union summer honor band, and the Starlight community band. He
also served for two years as director of the summer youth program
for the Boys and Girls Club of Oklahoma.
Mr. Alsobrook is a past president of the Oklahoma Bandmaster's Association
Marching Band Board of Control and is currently vice-president of
the Northeastern Oklahoma Band Director's Association. Additional
professional affiliations include the Music Educators National Conference,
Oklahoma Music Educators Association, National Association of Student
Activity Advisors, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.
